Girl Power

So hey.

Yeah, I'm still here. It's been quite some time now, hasn't it?

WHAT?! You didn't notice?

How rude! ;)

Haha no seriously though it has been FOREVER since I last posted on this thing! Lot's has been going on though and I am loving every single second of it. Here's a few things that have happened:

-Started working for Dr. Jeffrey Stewart at Coral Desert Foot and Ankle. I LOVE IT

-Went to Little Mermaid at Tuacahn. AMAZING. Everyone needs to go see it. It seriously was the cutest thing in the world. It just blew me away!

-Had Jenny from Korea live with me for a month! She's leaving today :(

-Sam flew out to Japan! I haven't heard from him yet but you can check out some pics on his Mission President's blog. He looks like he's doing great!

-Saw "The Help" and it's seriously so good. The book is amazing, too! If you're looking for a good, lighthearted read, that's your book!
-Started school at Dixie!! Also loving that! My schedule is pristine. Mondays and Wednesdays I have class from 8-12 and then institute from 12-1. Then Fridays I have class from 10-12! No class on Tuesdays or Thursdays for this girl! It's been great!

My institute class is going to be SO great! I went last night with Maddi and Tori and I just loved everything about it!
Earlier yesterday I had such a fun opportunity to help my friend Taylor recruit people to sign up for institute! This one boy kept checking out the table and schedule and stuff that we had and I would talk to him a little every time he came by. Then I asked him if he was thinking about taking a class and he said he was! I was so excited because I thought he wasn't a member (found out he was later but that's besides the point haha) and so I told him to come to the class I was signed up for that night at 7 and that I would look for him there!
Well sure enough, he was there! I felt so good! I told him to come sit by my friends and I and we talked a little bit during class. But it was SUCH a good class! I just felt so good the whole time and I was so happy after!
When class was over, he waited in the hall for me and thanked me for inviting him! He was so sincere and SUPER appreciative that I took the opportunity to invite him to come. He said it was just what he needed and that he hadn't had something like that in a long time. I can't even tell you how amazing it felt guys! I felt like a missionary haha.
But seriously, if you aren't taking institute, SIGN UP ! It's awesome! It's so great to just kick back, relax and recharge for the week! School is hard enough to have to do it on your own. I know that if you make and effort to go that you will be blessed.
Ok that's enough of that ha.

But maybe I should get to my point now, huh?
At one point in our lesson at institute last night, our teacher was talking about women and how they are so much more sensitive to the Spirit. He kept talking about how beloved we are by our Father in Heaven and how much respect he has for us and wants to protect us. He was saying that we are such a precious creation to our Heavenly Father and how we hold such a great purpose. It seriously touched me so much! I just felt this overwhelming gratitude to be a woman! Seriously though! We have so much more potential than we give ourselves credit for, guys! (I mean girls!)
I've made a promise to myself to always remember that I am a daughter of a Heavenly King. I have so much to offer and I am SO loved. I hope you can do the same!

Why can't we all be like this little girl?? Maybe we should try this every morning haha

Also, I just think this is funny haha.

Missionary Update + Pictures

Elder Wilde is doing AWESOME!! He has already been gone for 5 weeks! Can you believe that?? I sure can't! It is seriously FLYING by and I LOVE it!! He absolutely loves his district and he is learning so much! I love his letters. He is still the same silly, funny boy and I just laugh the whole time I am reading them! I am so proud of him!
Here are some pics he sent me this week along with the notes he wrote on the back.
The Snow Canyon Buddies
Haha this is a good one!
So I took a break. Made a tower with my flashcards haha
Just . . . don't mess haha.  Me, Fausett, Boice
MMMM! Elder Boice, Me, and Fausett LOVING life
Air surfing . . . yeah we're about to go pro
Me and Elder Fausett just chillin!
Me and Elder Fausett
Elder Tillman Dick? (I cannot read his handwriting most of the time haha) -honestly the craziest, weirdest person I've ever met haha.

As you can see, he is having the greatest time! He and Elder Fausett (it's so weird to hear him refer to him as that instead of Brody) are becoming the best of friends out there. Along with Elder Boice. I miss this boy but there is NO other place I would rather have him be!!

I love you Elder Wilde!

Sorry I'm late

I think I say that too much. I should work on that.
AnyWHAYS. Back to business.
Yesterday was Father's Day and I couldn't let the opportunity to talk about how great of a dad I have been blessed with pass me by!

Some people may or may not know the story of how my dad came to be my dad! When I was born, I was not a Jones. I was a Cochran! After my sister Katelyn was born and I was about 3 years old, our parents divorced. About a year or so later (I think. I was young so I don't really remember it all) my mom met Shawn (my dad) and they were engaged to be married! I remember that I LOVED it whenever he came over to see us. He was always so much fun to play with and he would always tease me! He would take us out to do fun stuff and I always thought it was so cool to ride in his truck.

I remember being so excited the day he married my mom. My mom, Katelyn, and I had one last sleepover together in the family room and I remember waking up and calling him in the morning and saying,"Good morning Daddy!!" we were so excited to have him in our family! (even though he wasn't technically our dad)

Ok, so long story short (or is it already long? I'm sorry) after my parents were married and I think maybe even before (according to what my dad has told me) he knew that he wanted to become mine and Katelyn's actual father because he loved us so much. He wanted us to have his own last name and he wanted us to be his for eternity. My mom thought that it would be impossible to get my biological father to go along with this but she prayed, fasted, and prayed some more!

On June 9, 2011, I was adopted and legally became Kortney Anne Jones! Such a happy day!

I'm so blessed to be in the family that I am in. I love them with all of my heart. They help me in so many ways. I love my dad so much. He is one of my very best friends. I love sitting down and having conversations with him. He teaches me so much and he has the greatest testimony that he not only believes, but lives. He is such a great example of selfless service and I try to be more patient and easy-going as he is every day. My life would be very different if I had not been adopted by my dad and I thank my Heavenly Father for bringing him into my life. I have had so many great opportunities and met so many incredible people that I wouldn't have otherwise. My dad works so hard for my family and I am so thankful for that. I love that my dad still likes to play and have fun. We have the best time when he is around.
To wrap things up, my dad's the greatest!!

I LOVE YOU DAD

Wassail

Last night was too funny with my guelph, Tori Anne Gates.
We headed to a campfire and took a few wrong turns.
Ok like 8 haha
One wasn't even a turn.
It was just bushes.
Another lead to a fork in the road where we decided to CTR (Choose The Right) and it lead us to a mountain.
Along the road we got pounded by a rock, shot like 50 bazillion rabbits with our imaginary guns- you can call us Dead-Eye Dan and Quick Draw McGraw, almost wet ourselves, sang JB, and laughed until we almost puked.
SO MUCH FUN.
Love ya Tori!
Have a Fabulous Day!!

Excuse me, I have an announcement to make

I'm going to Dixie next year!
I know it's so crazy and all of a sudden, and it's probably super lame to be moving back home, but I also know that it's the best thing for me right now. EVERYTHING has started to fall into place and it just makes me so excited!! I can't wait to see what this next year will have in store for me, as well as the years to follow!!
